The deck - grander by the day

Over the last few weeks, Mike and his co-worker Mike (yes that's correct) have been crafting the deck. Tearing down the old one and gradually building a newer and vastly improved deck in its place. So at last I've got a series of photos that will get us all up to speed on where the deck is at. And it's stunning. This house is going to go from "scary neighbourhood house" to the most beautiful house on the block.

The original pillars were preserved but everything else has been built from scratch.

Beautiful stain on the deck ceiling. Jen picked that out. She's got a great eye for that.

Mike's taken great care to cover the drill holes ---

And cap them. After a coat of paint, you'll never know they were there...
unless you read this blog.

Posts added up top...railings still to go in obviously.

Mike, the craftsman behind our beautiful deck.

Mike again.
And there it is...I've actually caught up to date on the house progress. All posts from here on will be real time. Amazing how a trip to Africa can just throw your whole schedule out the window. Next post will show off the new kitchen.

  1. What a beautiful deck! I’m pretty sure this will become the envy of your neighborhood. The white color of the railing had freshened up the whole look of the deck. The stairs looks very elegant, and the ceiling looks so vintage! They all just go well together. I think planting some beautiful flowers around the deck will bring a fresh atmosphere to the whole space.
